Florida car insurance requirements are divided into two laws: the Florida Financial Responsibility Law and the No-Fault Law. Each law carries its own minimum insurance requirements.
The Florida Financial Responsibility Law is designed to protect you and others in the event that any of the following situations occur: you cause an accident that results in injuries; your driver’s license is suspended for accumulating too many points; you are given a ticket and your license is revoked for driving under the influence; or you are deemed a habitual offender and your license is revoked.
The minimum insurance requirements for the Florida Financial Responsibility Law are as follows: ,000 Property Damage Liability; ,000 Bodily Injury Liability for one person; and ,000 Bodily Injury Liability to two or more people.
